Natural Remedies, Health Tips, and Rising Medical Costs Explained:

Social media is flooded with health tips, but who really knows what’s good for us? Why are natural remedies expensive and still wrapped in plastic, with no clear proof?

Every day when I get up, I marvel at all the messages I keep coming across about our health, and what foods are offered. Social media in particular are full of “handy” tips every day. But what is or is not good for our body and our health? For me, this applies to herbs, minerals, as well as all chemical medicines.

Who really knows what’s good for us?

You may already be aware of it, but in my home country of the Netherlands it is forbidden to state exactly what the effect of this is on the packaging of “natural medicines”.

So actually, many people only use these drugs because others tell you that it works. Funny to know that these drugs should be the natural counterparts of all the chemicals that regular doctors pour over us. And these doctors “naturally” take it for granted that there must be a leaflet that tells you exactly what we can or cannot expect from it.

Is the price in line with the result?

What I find special is that the prices of all those drugs continue to rise, as do the salaries of doctors. The costs of health care are skyrocketing all over the world, fewer and fewer people in the world can meet the demands that doctors place on the costs of their treatment. In my opinion, justice is hard to find in this specific side of the world. Doesn’t every person have the right to good health, and if necessary proper treatment, if necessary?  Why are billions being poured into the development of new healing methods and medicines, if it is only accessible to the “elite” of this world?

In the Catholic hospital, too, the price, and politics determine who heals.

The creator of our world, whatever you call him, has long since relinquished control. Equal rights and duties are long gone, if ever they were. The rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer. Doctors actually only work for their salary, curing patients has long been an afterthought for them. Money, power and marketing rule our world. Look at the homeopathic world, why do these remedies cost so much money, if you are not even allowed to know what the effect should be? Why are all these products still packaged in plastic? Often in packaging that is far too large, so that they stand out on the shelf.

Why is there still no academic answer?

Paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic, ginger, and cinnamon, are they only spices or do they also have a medicinal effect? Websites are full of them, but where is the incontrovertible academic evidence that these herbs and spices can work as medicines? Think of all those health care homes, do people get hope there, or just false hope? Is our tax money only invested in pharmaceutical companies that make money, or are cheap well-functioning home and kitchen products also recommended that have the same effect?

Why are medicines still in plastic blister packs?

If you, as a patient, think you have received the right pharmaceuticals, and not a drug that lowers cholesterol, but then destroys your muscles, then they will still be packaged in highly environmentally polluting plastic blisters, even in 2025. (Where did the glass jars go?) Plastic is also still the be-all and end-all in the homeopathic world, why does no one intervene here? Doctors’ salaries continue to rise, but the qualification of patients is becoming increasingly strict. But is every person actually entitled to expensive medical treatment?

How do you determine who is or is not entitled to medical care?

Is the selection of patients for healing only about money, or are there other selection methods as well? Are people also better able to select themselves? Without stuffing yourself with all kinds of “so-called” medicines, you may be better off staying healthy by paying attention to your diet and exercising daily. Shouldn’t there be more research into why people are overweight? But yes, healthy food is expensive, and you must be able to afford it, so why don’t we first find out at an academic level what is really good for a person and make the prices of all these medicines and foods more affordable? Or is there a revenue model behind the self-proclaimed indispensable health care? Could this “industrial” branch also be driven by the medium of exchange money?
